You’ve Got Packages

Posted in Shopping by Rami on the May 25th, 2005

Finally I have gotten my iPod but now I barely have time for anything. Yesterday I got 7 packages from Aramex which is 4 more than what I usually get every week. I like getting packages but getting too many all at ones doesn’t give the stuff I get the attention they deserve. I got the the iPod, the iTrip, Dell Powerconnect 3024 switch, Netscreen 5XP, Cisco 677, 5db omni 2.4Ghz antennas, and 7db omni 2.4Ghz antennas. When will I have the time to play around with all of these!

I would have gone with a couple 24dBi Unidirectional Grid Outdoor Antenna. Never know when you need wireless a couple kilometers away. :)

K I already have one 24db grid outdoor antenna being used for my 1.5km link and true it’s a childs play eventhough I have almost no LOS but I don’t think Shuwaikh to Bnaider is even possible with 802.11b especially here in Kuwait while with 802.16 I think it would be easily done.

Mark it’s not that great… I’m too picky with the sound and the iTrip sucks… I might hack it though once I get the time and will see what happens…

I will rejoice in the streets when 802.16 gets to kuwait .. actually, I will rejoice in the streets if they technology is every launched succesfully anywhere. The biggest problem in Kuwait’s networks is the last mile access, long range broadband is one of the only solutions .. either that or privatizing the telecomm network.

iTrip sucks, in fact I havent come across one single FM transmitter for the iPod that spits out a decent signal in all cars. Its pathetic, $40 down the drain.

I use the Monster tape feed instead… not bad, but you do get some white noise.

    Anyways, rock on iPods…

With regards to antenna, can I get one here in Kuwait for my Linksys piece of crap gateway? My range sucks and its indoors.
