After Fadibou told me and Mark about YaGoohoogle during lunch and after Mark wrote about it I thought of why not do the same thing but with more engines. So I did it trying to avoid doing some work. Check it out at http://search.alzaid.net

I took my car to the dealer ship for service. I waited more than 30 minutes just to get my paper work done to have my car admitted. As far as I can tell my car was fine except that it needed the 45k service but again what do I know about cars. They have told me that it would take till monday to get my car back. If I had done it at an outside shop it would take them 2 hours max so why 3 days? Plus at the outside shop it usually costs 70KD while at the dealer ship it costs around 90KD. Anyhow, 30 minutes after I admit the car I get a call from the service guy saying that my car has two more problems. An oil leak from the transmission and something called “radius pushing”! I have no idea what “radius pushing” is or “boshat” in arabic so I call my brother in law who knows about cars. My brother in law explains it to me and since I don’t really trust any outside shops I call the service person back and agree to fix the two problems along with the service which also adds a day for getting my car back. Now not only am I carless till tuesday but I’m going to be KD300less.

Today I finally finished watching the first two seasons of The O.C. and it was amazing. When I first started watching I went through the first season and the first 20 episodes of The O.C. (total of 47) in a matter of 10 days. I was getting like 4 hours of sleep a day and barely spent time with my wife so I had to cut down. As my wife also got addicted to it, I waited for her till she catches up with me for the rest and was also kinda watching it again with her. Yesterday she finally cought up with me and we watched the final 4 episodes over the past two days. Now as it is finally over I can’t wait till August for the third season but till then I will have to find a new show to pass the time with!

Finally I have gotten my iPod but now I barely have time for anything. Yesterday I got 7 packages from Aramex which is 4 more than what I usually get every week. I like getting packages but getting too many all at ones doesn’t give the stuff I get the attention they deserve. I got the the iPod, the iTrip, Dell Powerconnect 3024 switch, Netscreen 5XP, Cisco 677, 5db omni 2.4Ghz antennas, and 7db omni 2.4Ghz antennas. When will I have the time to play around with all of these!

Lately I see everyone in IT running after certifications except for me.
I personally think that this piece of paper doesn’t mean anything
especially if you don’t do what you are certified for all the time. Like
for me I got some crappy Oracle DBA training at New Horizons long time
ago but after a couple of months I forgot it all since it wasn’t a
hands-on training mostly and since I don’t use oracle everyday. This
training would’ve helped me to get certified then but if I had gotten
the certification it would’ve meant that I know the stuff covered which
I don’t really. Most people just cram for the exam and after a while
forget everything so why get certified in the first place? The only
reason I can think of is to be considered at other companies for a new
job which is a valid reason but in my case since I’m fairly happy with
my current job shall I go after certification for the future?
