My New Addiction
Today around 1am I started to have a new addiction. Not sure if it is really an addiction but I couldn’t stop! My new addiction is The OC. It was my first time watching it eventhough I kept on seeing the torrents on many websites. I was so sleepy by the 3rd episode but just couldn’t stop till probably 5:30am at the end of the 6th episodes. The OC is just amazing I give it 9/10.
Amazon… Amazon… and More Amazon…

Lately a lot has been going on with amazon. First I got my first associates gift certificate which wasn’t much only $18 but still cool. Then yesterday Mark gave me an invite for an Amazon Prime, which is amazing. Later on I was telling my sister about it and she was like "I too get a Pi/2 discount." I have never heard about that before but apparently if you use a9 to search the web, you get a Pi/2 discount from amazon. Now I was looking over my email and I noticed that I have received another gift certificate of $50 from amazon for a promotional purchase I had done like 3 months ago. So I have $68 worth of certificates with free shipping and only $3.99 for overnight. Shall I go for the mini iPod or the PSP?!
WiFi Good and Bad News
I have good news and I have bad news for the WiFi service. Bad news, I’m almost done developing the new system and so you won’t be able to use the widely discovered bug. Good news, there are 5 more free hotspots coming out. From these places Costa Cafe City Tower and Eureka, which are already operational and free till a specific date. For the rest of the places, bribe me :o)
IE HTML 4.01 Specification Bug?
While developing the new WiFi system I think I found a bug. Apperntly IE is not following the HTML specifications. In the OPTION tag for a SELECT you don’t really need to specify value as it is implied and uses the content of the OPTION tag (link) but IE requires the value if you want to use the value in a JavaScript. Spent a whole hour to find that out! Lesson learned: Always use value in the OPTION tag.
Got Philips

Ok I just ended up getting the Philips 109B60 Monitor. The Lacie is just
too expensive and I’m not into design or anything so it’s really not
worth the KD205. The Philips was for KD77 only so that saves me the rest
of the KD205 for a PSP maybe :o) Now so far I like this CRT much better
than the Samsung LCD. At least I can now see COLORS. After calibration
on my Mac mini it just looks awesome but it still doesn’t look as good
under linux nor windows.
My Search For a Monitor
Kuwait sucks when it comes to buying electronics. I remember when I was in the states I was able to find whatever I want. Too bad I couldn’t afford it then. Now when I can finally afford getting some of the stuff I want I can never find them. I went for a monitor hunt today as I have a Samsung SyncMaster 172B LCD and I’m not really happy with it. I prefer CRTs much better. I don’t play games or anything but I feel that the CRTs are clearer. I Went to LG, Samsung, Sony, called IOC for Lacie, looked at ZAK’s flyer for the Philips monitors but I couldn’t find anything that is really reasonable. I love Sony mostly and that’s what I had in the states but they have been discontinued here in Kuwait! I don’t like LG much as I heard the colors fade away after a year or so. Not sure about Samsung but I hate this Samsung LCD and want to keep away from Samsung. What I’m left with is either Lacie or Philips. Lacie is KD205 and Philips is KD85 and that’s for 19inch monitors. I have to make a choice tomorrow as I’m so sick of my monitor at home. Would love to have the Lacie but is it really worth it!?!
Photography Classes
Lately I’ve been more interested in photography but I just have too much going on to actually learn something new. Nawaf gave me his old NYIP lessons a while back but I still haven’t got the time to read them. I found out from Mark that Bayt Lothan has classes in photography. I called them up and it’s 60KD for the first level. The course is 20 hours long and spans over a month or so. Now I’m not sure if I should take the course or not. 60KD isn’t that bad if the course is good. Anyone who knows anything about the courses offered at Bayt Lothan and if they are any good? I really need to start learning and put my Sony V3 to use then maybe get a DSLR later on.
Hello Firefox
For the past 4 years I’ve been using mozilla and was happy with it but
lately the nightly builds are extremely unstable with multizilla and so
I decided to leave it. Now I’m happy with Firefox after using it for a
couple of days. It seems to me that firefox is lighter than it used to
be when I tried it around v0.6 I think. I’ve installed Tabbrowser, User
Agent Switcher and ProxyButton extensions which gives me everything I
liked about multizilla and mozilla.
Zajil WiFi Payments
Finally today, after so many days of work, Zajil WiFi is available with
all payment options. The one that took most of our time is the KNET
payment through the web. The process is long but well thought of by the
KNET staff. People there at KNET are so helpful and friendly which made
the development and setup of the payment page fun.
